Trash has accumulated all around the edges of this windswept square, in the
gutter, under the gallows west, and along the high fence south. That high
fence runs east beyond the square and parallel the dirty cobblestone street.
Westward it stops at the edge of the square and turns south and immediately
out of sight beyond its own thick mass. North and west are the collapsed
pillars and rubble of what must have once been an impressive structure. But
here you find yourself on the flagstones of a doomed square, the gallows
creaking ominously in the wind.

Rotting flesh and decaying bone send overwhelming fumes up to your nostrils

large platform witha solitary figure atop it. The stench of plague grows

Years have weathered down the stone and toppled buildings all about, but the
road underfoot remains as it was a thousand years ago. Black water carries
away pieces of building as well as the remains of smaller creatures. To the
west the debris clears out a bit while to the east the stench grows stronger.

Pestilence Street.
The source of the smell is revealed as you wander into this room. Mold builds
up in the gutters, blocking drainage and forcing the liquid to gather in the
center of the street forming a small pool of black fluid. Small pieces of
matter float about in the liquid and algea forms at the ridge and you think
to yourself that it is good that nothing truely living is around to drink
from this horrid water source.

Intersection of Pestilence and Bones.
You enter what was at one time a bustling intersection, before the ravages of
time and unstoppable decay began to take hold.  To the east and west runs
Pestilence Avenue, while Bones Avenue runs north-south.  The coliseum looms
forbodingly to the south and various building shells rise up to the east and
west.  Although the spot is pleasant enough by the light of day, you'd better
not be here when the sun goes down.

Here Bones Avenue intersects with a dim trail leading off amidst the rubble
piles to the east.  The wide road continues to the south and north, leading
to an intersection to the south and abruptly terminating in a yawning pit
